Lucy Rogers, Occupational Therapist
BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy
PG Dip. Accessibility & Inclusive Design
I have worked in the field of Occupational Therapy for over 20 years, initially beginning my career as an Occupational Therapy Assistant working in a day hospital for older people.
I qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 2001 and have since gained a wealth of experience working with both children and adults in the statutory and non-statutory sectors.
I have worked with a wide variety of Local Authorities, Housing providers and private companies and spent 2 years working abroad with a charity, helping disabled Romanian orphans in a state run institution.
Working in different capacities over the years within the community, I developed my passion – to bridge the gap between Social Care, Health and Housing. I strive to improve awareness and develop links between these sectors to highlight how health and social welfare is dependent on suitable, accessible and safe housing.
I decided to specialise in home modification and inclusive design, and completed a Post Graduate Diploma and achieving a NARAC (National Register of Access Consultants) registration in Access Auditing.
In my role as a independent OT Consultant I work with:
- Commercial companies to design Inclusive products
- Private individuals
- Housing Associations
- Housing Departments
- Social Care Providers
- Charities
- Clinics
- Architects
- Residential Homes
- Educational Facilities
- Private and Commercial Businesses
I advise on the completion of environmental modifications in private homes and businesses. I also advise on adaptations via grants & litigation, within residential/nursing homes and in fulfilling the legal responsibilities of social housing, educational & community facility providers.
I undertake Access Audits within the fields of business, hospitality, sports and social clubs.
Additionally, as a Trusted Assessor trainer, I can provide practical training in the assessment and provision of simple pieces of Activities of Daily Living equipment and disability awareness.
